The Lost Mike Bossy's: 90-91

Mike Bossy was a gifted goal scorer, who retired early due to back issues.  He played 10 seasons in the NHL and scored 50+ goals in his first nine seasons.  He was the second player in history to score 50 goals in 50 games.  Bossy retired after scoring 573 goals in 752 games.  He holds the NHL career record for average .76 goals per game.  In his final NHL season, 1986-87, Bossy had 29 goals and 56 points in 41 games before missing two week due to his back injury.  He would only score 9 goals and 19 points in his final 22 regular season games.
If Bossy had been able to play a few more seasons, could he had challenged Gordie Howe's 801 career goals?  If he could have played 6 more seasons and average 40 goals a year, he would have done it.  Granted, if all players had perfect health for their full careers, I am pretty sure the record book would look very different.
Assuming Bossy's back held up until the junk era, here's his 1990-91 base cards.

  1. Great "what if" idea for one of the legends of the game! The photo on the OPC version is exactly what they would have chosen -- Mike Bossy standing around in warmups. I think the Pro Set and Score cards are my favorites, though.

    1. Originally I did a portrait card of Bossy, like most of the cards in the set but decided to switch things up a bit and go with a landscape card.

  2. Are these available for purchase? They look fantastic and I am a die-hard Isles Bossy fan. I always wondered what if...when it came to later 80's early 90's card designs..let me know if these are available..wow!!

    1. I don't print any of these out. I live in the Arctic and I don't have right quality of supplies to print them out as cards. The best I could do is send the larger unmarked files for you to print out.

    2. Hi!! Thank You very much..I love your memories and re-imaginatings of classic cardboard lost and found! Being from Newfoundland and growing up in the 1980's the Isles were and continue to be my favourite sports team..I have 4 brothers who share the same sentiment. Funny looks today versus a no-brainer many years ago I guess. Anything you can send would be greatly appreciated as I just collect Islanders cards particularly Mr Bossy!!
